So I did the cliche New Year's Resolution this year. I know....everyone does it and most people are not serious about it. But here's why I made the resolution and my intention of keeping it. I'm turn 30 (*gasp*) in August and I have two beautiful babies. I figure that if I don't do this now and get rid of this last 20 pounds of baby weight then I never will get rid of it. In addition, my health has become a major concern of mine over the past year. I've had more problems/issues come up this year then I ever have had before and everyone keeps saying the same thing over and over again...."You're too young to be having these problems."
There are many ailments that run in my family. Diabetes, high blood pressure, depression, cancer, heart disease, obesity, and thyroid issues. Lately my brother has been seeing a specialist for his own trouble. He's showing signs of a rare blood condition. I can't remember what it's called but he has had at least 20 different tests run, one of which was for leukemia. He has to now go to a different specialist in Utah to see what else can be done. Knowing these health problems run in my family is scary. I've watched my grandparents die of cancer, my mother and father struggle with high blood pressure, and my grandma died of heart failure. I don't smoke, I do drink occasionally. I try to eat as healthy as I can but I know it's not as good as it could be. Before this week I rarely got to the gym. But all of that has to change.
One of the heatlh troubles I have had in the past year is an issue with my joints and muscles. I think I know what the problem is but I don't want to hear it be confirmed. Sometimes I my body hurts so bad it hurts to move. It started with my legs and arms and recently has moved into my hips. One of my hips/legs is painful enough now that I have been put on Tramidol for it. They cannot determine what or why it is causing me trouble. The past week and a half is the best I have felt for awhile. Regardless I've decided that getting into a routine workout and diet change is the best thing I can do for myself and my children. The Army Reserve (My husband is Active Gaurd Reserve) has just recently put up enough money to pay for memberships and childcare at local YMCA's for the soldiers and their families. There is a requirement of attendence of 8 times a month. With that I'm going to make a tremendous change in my life.
Wish me luck......I'll keep this updated throughout my journey for a healthier lifestyle.
